Say It Isn’t So, Dana Thomas House Is Closed

Sumac Window designed by Frank Lloyd Wright at the Dana Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois But it is so, the Dana Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois is now one of the closed historic sites in Illinois due to state budget cuts. I went and took the tour one last time on Saturday, November 29, the second to last day before it’s closure. I’m always amazed and stunned by the complexity of the house and how Frank Lloyd Wright designed every last detail so beautifully, from the flow of the rooms, to the lighting and breathtaking views, to the art glass, colors and furniture. As I was on the tour, I couldn’t help but wonder how long the house will remained closed? I hope that all the furnishings and the house itself will be well maintained to see another glorious reopening and many more opportunities for everyone to be amazed by the magnificence of this home.
